Many of you will remember Eralys‘s beautiful playing from previous concerts, as a soloist, in a piano duo and accompanying Diego Carneiro (cello). The programme this time was:

£370 was collected for Cubans en UK to raise money to restore a piano at the music school
Sunday 20th October at 4pm - Enceladus Ensemble
The Enceladus Ensemble is formed of four award winning chamber musicians, coming together to form a flexible ensemble with the piano quartet repertoire at its heart. They have been previous Making Music ‘Selected Artists’, Park Lane Group Artists, and have performed at Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, The Bridgewater Hall and live on BBC Radio 3.
They played two favourites of the Piano Quartet repertoire:

Brahms – Piano Quartet in G minor op 25
There was a collection of £302 in aid Ronald McDonald House, that provides free support and accommodation for families when their children are receiving treatment in the hospital for children in Bristol.

Sunday 5th May - Lawrence Power (violin and viola) and Pavel Kolesnikov (piano) - for Friends of West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival
The Launch event of the West Wycombe Chamber Music Festival 2019 for the Festival Friends.
Lawrence and Pavel played all five of the sonatas for violin and piano and viola and piano. There was bubbly and home-made canapés and it was a terrific evening!

After the concert we made a collection for Spotlight on Africa,http://www.hsoa.org.uk a very effective small charity working with a refugee community in Uganda
We had a lovely display showing the wonderful work that they are doing around health, education, clean water and economic development, working alongside the families in the community to ensure that help is appropriate and sustainable. Rory Scales from the charity came to the concert to construct a tippy tap, tell us a little about SOA and answer questions.
Wednesday 18th July (evening) - Heath String Quartet and friends
The Heath Quartet played pieces from Bach’s Little Organ Book followed by Jörg Widmann’s ‘Choralquartett’, with its ghostly, disruptive mix of sound and silence.
They were then joined by Ruth Gibson (viola) and Marie Bitlloch (cello) to perform Schoenberg’s richly chromatic Verklärte Nacht, a symphonic poem for string sextet.
A real treat!!

Diego Carneiro (cello) - Sunday 29 October at 4pm
Many of us remembered Diego from his memorable concert raising money for his project bringing music-making to the children of the Amazon Rainforest. He has now diversified and is raising money to support the National Youth Orchestra of Ecuador. At the concert today we collected £384 for the project.

Quintessential Winds - Sunday 24 September at 4pm
After the concert there was a collection in aid of The Flying Seagull Project http://www.theflyingseagullproject.com/what-we-do/. which raised £388. This charity believes that it is everyone, man, woman or child’s right to put aside the cares of life and smile for a while. They work with widely varying groups in several countries to help bring smiles and happiness to people, whether as Clown Doctors for children undergoing difficult medical treatments or through arts, music and crafts workshops.
